Greer Garson Theatre
Southern Methodist University
Dallas, Texas
Construction is complete on the Greer Garson Theatre and the Southwest Film/Video Archives at Southern Methodist University. This 50,000 square foot building is a companion project to the Jake and Nancy Hamon Arts Library. The building contains a 386-seat classic thrust stage theatre, modeled after the great thrust stage theatres of the world - the Festival Theatre at Stratford, Ontario; the Tyrone Guthrie Theatre in Minneapolis; and the Chichester Festival Theatre in England. The five-story building also contains offices, screening rooms, and a specialized archival storage vault for the Southwest Film/Video Archives.
